These earrings are an original design by Susan Mancuso of Forge and Foundry Jewels. Hand crafted in our studio, these earrings were inspired by the lotus flower as depicted on the masterpiece ceramics created by the artists of the Ming and Qing dynasties in China. Dangling from these graceful earrings are three blue/green sapphire briolette beads, approximately .75 carat total carat weight (per earring), accented with the brilliant warmth of canary diamonds (approximately .03 carats). 18k yellow gold ear wire. Giving a contemporary feel, these earrings have a matte finish. While these earrings will enhance the most formal evening gown, they also easily accompany a daytime wardrobe. Approximately 1.25 inches (6.5 centimeters) long.
Also available is the companion pendant necklace.
The lotus flower is an important symbol in many Asian cultural and religious traditions. The lotus plant grows in swamps and other brackish water. The flower, whose bud must push its way from the mud to above the surface of murky, muddy waters, displays its delicate and pristine beauty, protected by the a sheath of lotus leaves against its swampy surroundings. The lotus flower is extolled variously as a symbol of beauty, perseverance, triumph, good fortune, and virtue. Forge and Foundry hopes that the wearers of its jewelry will enjoy those qualities intended by the symbol of the lotus flower.
